Nettara Bridge

I understand that you are asking about the Nettara Bridge located in Thirunelli panchayat of Wayanad district. Although the Nittara Bridge in Kottayam was mentioned earlier, the tribal village of Nettara and its bridge are related to Thirunelli.

The following are some important details about this area and the bridge:

Location and Significance
River: This bridge is built across the famous Kalindi River in Wayanad.

This is the main road connecting the people of Nettara Unnati Colony (an area inhabited by the Adiya, Kurumba and Kakkaya communities) in the first ward of Thirunelli panchayat with Thirunelli town.

A troubled past
Although the panchayat had built a concrete bridge here in 2005, it was completely destroyed by a tree during the monsoon of 2006.

After that, for 12 long years, when the Kalindi River flooded during the rainy season, this village would be completely isolated from the outside world.

For many years, the locals used to travel by making temporary bridges using bamboo and rope. But these temporary bridges used to wash away with every flood.

New Bridge (A Dream Come True)
To solve this problem, the government allocated funds and a new, state-of-the-art concrete bridge was built here.

Public Works Minister P.A. Muhammad Riyaz officially inaugurated this bridge for the people.

With the new bridge, the people of Nettara village can safely reach Thirunelli town, schools and hospitals.
